Zayd draws on his experience and expertise including working at leading national law firms to advise and manage clients navigate in the areas of general commercial litigation, property disputes, debt recovery, insolvency, and insurance law.
Zayd's engagement both in the corporate and private sectors leads him to represent clients in disputes in all Queensland Courts, other State Courts, and the Federal and High Courts of Australia.
He is regularly instructed by publicly listed companies, corporate clients and insolvency practitioners.
Zayd's proactive and collaborative approach means advising clients to take into account commercial considerations, and overall outcome strategies through litigation or other alternative means of dispute resolution, particularly mediation and out of court resolutions.
Recent experience includes:
- Advised a major international agrichemical company in its opposition of Supreme Court winding up proceedings regarding allegations of breach of trust and oppression, and associated proceedings to obtain Mareva orders and subsequently the appointment of a provisional liquidator to a subsidiary company.
- Advised company directors in claims brought by liquidators of companies in relation to public examinations and subsequently, in Court proceedings brought by the liquidators for insolvent trading.
- Acted as principal panel lawyer for the Queensland State Government on its debt recovery panel undertaking recovery matters including pursuant to statutory powers and statutory debts.
- Acting for a publicly listed automotive company and commercial collection agencies nationally in commercial litigation disputes, and commercial debt recovery matters.
- Acted for leading national and international insurers pursuant to their rights of subrogation.
- Acting for liquidators and trustees in bankruptcy in a broad range of insolvency matters.
